This month has been challenging. I have been distracted and pressured by outside forces and events that if I could choose, they would not be something I would have to experience. But here we are. And the same dynamic happens to all of us in varying ways and degrees so I am not whining, I hope.
Yesterday as I ran errands and prayed while driving (good idea in Metro Atlanta) I had a wonderful sense of the burdens being separate from myself, sort of like boxes of clutter that were around me, but not in me. Hard to explain but it was a sense of being set apart from the problems, and I appreciated that greatly.
This morning as I am reading and praying and systematically reciting the Lord's Prayer, I felt particularly drawn to "give us this day our daily bread" and I wanted to share that to perhaps encourage others to present your "boxes" of burden down before the LORD and petition Him for today's bread and stay mentally in this moment, today. Jesus instructed us for our own good to pray this way.
"Pray then like this: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil" - Matthew 6:9-13
