"Master, we have toiled all night and took nothing! But at your word I will let down the nets." Luke 5:5

When I read this scripture I thought immediately about the great big heart of Peter, a flawed man. We know Peter was flawed through stories about him in scripture. We even know that Peter was flawed through Peter's own words as later on in that chapter of Luke 5, when after pulling in a tremendous amount of fish from obeying the instruction of Jesus, Peter calls out, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord." in verse 8.

Jesus knew full well who Peter was and it is so beautiful to me that Jesus calls to that part of us created to glorify God, and we do not have to be perfect. It is also so encouraging that the imperfect man Peter was able to agree to do as Jesus asked, to let down the nets again even though Peter had toiled all night. That is faith in action!
