The Now of Latter Days

It shall come to pass that in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come and say; "Come, let us go to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.

Isaiah 2:2-3

The latter days. They have arrived, and are still arriving. When Jesus inaugurated His Kingship at His resurrection, it was the inauguration of all eternity for a kingdom and a government that surpasses all. His kingdom shall be lifted up above all the hills.

The gods of antiquity lived on hills and mountains. The gods of material wealth exalt themselves high. The gods of fame live first in Google searches. Yet there is a God, the one and only God, who is always available for a searching heart.

We are anticipating an inauguration coming up in the United States yet it is not even a speck in history, all things considered. We are seeing a major city being brought to its knees by fire: one minute people were going about their daily lives and the next, they were running for them. It is not a time to focus on the temporal. It is time to set our gaze on eternity, and the Savior of that eternity, Jesus Christ.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

John 3:16-17
